BIOGRAPHY

Alf Löhr's artworks can only be categorised to a limited extent; they virtually defy classification. Sometimes the works exist only momentarily, appearing only by chance, only to manifest themselves differently a short time later due to their movement.
In a sense, these are ‘hybrid’ works because they oscillate between the world of thought and the world of objects, presenting themselves as both static and dynamic. ‘Hybrid’ means that different modes of being are inextricably linked: art and design, object and image, movement and stillness, calculation and chance, space and colour. The series of works emphasise aspects that defy traditional artistic categories such as sculpture, painting, drawing, graphic art, photography, video, performance, etc., even if they sometimes originated there.
